Kyle McDonald Hacker Artist

he "works with sounds and codes, exploring translation, contextualization, and similarity" — caused a sensation when he revealed that his latest art project involved installing a form of custom spyware on computers in two Apple stores in New York, automatically sending him images of people peering into the screens that he then posted on a Tumblr blog, titled "People Staring at Computers." He claims that over three days in June, he captured 1,000 photos via 100 store computers. Predictably, Apple — and Johnny Law — were not amused. Secret service agents raided McDonald's home, confiscating his laptops, several flash drives, and an iPod. Reports say that the government is investigating McDonald for violating US Code Title 18 /1030, and that in a worst-case scenario he could face up to 20 years in prison. - ARTINFO
