Please Try to Forgive Georgina Zogby

HARRISBURG -- The wife of a cabinet secretary got a lift home from an on-duty state trooper assigned to the governor's mansion after she was arrested and charged with drunken driving earlier this month. State police spokesman Sgt. Anthony Manetta confirmed Friday that a trooper assigned to the governor's security detail left his post in an unmarked state car to pick up Georgina D. Zogby, wife of Budget Secretary Charles Zogby. The trooper took her from the Cumberland County police processing center in the early morning hours of July 10 to her home about six miles away. Earlier that night, sometime after midnight, she was taken to the booking center after police said she tried to elude officers. Troopers ultimately stopped her using a rolling road block and barriers designed to puncture tires, according to a police affidavit. - Tracie Mauriello, Pittsburgh Post-Gazette and Sari Heidenreich Philadelphia Inquirer
